Arthur Seibel studied mechanical engineering at Hamburg University of Technology, specializing in design engineering and product development. He was a research assistant and later senior engineer in the field of plant systems engineering and methodical product development at Hamburg University of Technology.
He earned his doctorate with a thesis on “On the Inclusion of Parameter Uncertainties into Engineering Design Computations.” Until 2023, he was group leader and later department head at the Fraunhofer Institute for Additive Production Technologies IAPT in Hamburg. He habilitated in the field of design engineering at the Technical University of Hamburg; title of his habilitation thesis: “Systematic Design of Soft Machines.” Since the winter semester of 2023, he has been Professor of Product Development and Design Engineering at the Institute of Production Engineering and Systems at Leuphana University Lüneburg.
His research interests include soft robotics, parallel robotics, and design methodology.
