Making Worlds in Two Hours
A making-and-testing loop in two hours: AI proposes, we negotiate, XR lets us inhabit. Bring a smartphone and a laptop. No prior skills needed.
We welcome our Emerging Tech Fellow, the Brazilian Architect and Media Architect from São Paulo, Victor Sardenberg with this special edition of making worlds in close collaboration with AI (technologies). To get an impression of how Victor works, have a look at his website: https://victorsardenberg.com/
Victor will give a short input into his notion of “world-making” and how to collaborate with (not “use”) an AI. For two hours we build one speculative world, together. Generative AI acts as co-author: it proposes forms, spaces, half-imagined thresholds, and the room pushes back, edits, and assembles them into a shared model. Fast, loose, no polished drawings — just the back-and-forth of human and machine making.
Then we change the register. We project what we built into the room at its real size — 1:1 — through phone-based XR, and step inside it. We walk through it, stand under it, discover it’s too low, too narrow, too timid — or exactly right. The imagined future becomes a place we physically encounter, and argue with.
The “Salon der Digitalen Machenschaften” is a way of making things together. Making together is as much a social gathering as it is a means to create knowledge. Knowledge that help us to better understand the world of AI and digital things. Each edition consists of a small input / an inspiring thought. But most of the time and focus is on the processes of creating, crafting, working together to create one thing that can be tested together at the end of the session. In German you can call this “eine Machenschaft”!
True to the making spirit – we provide frameworks, cables, VR googles, pens and paper. To build a speculative world together is part of all those who happen to be in the room that moment. As much as it is in their power to discuss, chat and enjoy whatever questions or ideas that experiment has triggered.
Wednesday, October, 21st 2026 – 18:00 to 21:00. At the Creative Space (CB 0.55a).
